Report on the Participation in the 26th International Conference on Education Research (ICER)

From July 9 to 10, 2026, the 26th International Conference on Education Research (ICER) was held at Seoul National University in South Korea. On the first day of the conference, a keynote lecture was delivered on new approaches to educational research and practice, in line with the conference theme, “Education for Post-World.” This was followed by an engaging discussion on how equality in education can be ensured in the context of the inequalities and competitive social structures that have emerged from conventional educational frameworks aimed at promoting modernisation and democratisation.
The second day of the conference featured a poster session. Two master’s students from Sakaue’s Lab presented their research findings under the following titles (listed below in alphabetical order) and received valuable feedback and suggestions through active discussions.

Report on the participation in the 62nd Japan Comparative Education Society (JCES) Annual Conference

From July 3 to July 5, 2026, the 62nd Annual Conference of the Japan Comparative Education Society (JCES) was held at Ritsumeikan University's Kinugasa Campus. The first day of the conference opened with roundtable sessions. Professor Sakaue organized a session entitled "Policies and Practices for Including Forcibly Displaced Children in Public Education: A Comparison of Cases in Developing Countries," which facilitated an active exchange of views on the inclusion of forcibly displaced people—including refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs)— in national education systems.
From Sakaue’s Lab, Professor Sakaue and two master's students presented their research findings in oral presentations under the following titles (listed below in alphabetical order) and received valuable comments and advice.
